THE EXPERIENCE
Expect Mendoza logistical hubs (Potrerillos/Luján) for acclimatisation walks before summit pushes—distinct from Champáquí programmes.
Cerro del Medio (4,170 m) is the guardian of the Cordón del Plata Provincial Park. Don’t be misled by its elevation — its sustained elevation gain makes it a physically demanding challenge and the perfect training mountain for those aiming toward bigger expeditions.
Over 3 days, we create a strategic immersion into high-altitude mountaineering. Our approach is simple and effective: we hike to higher elevations during the day to promote acclimatization, then descend to sleep with more oxygen at our mountain hut at 2,900 m.
You’ll move through glacial landscapes and test your mindset during long days on the mountain. We provide the logistics and professional guides — you bring the endurance needed to reach the summit.
This is a demanding expedition, designed for people with very good aerobic fitness, resistance to fatigue, and previous trekking experience who are ready to raise the bar on their challenges. To help you prepare mentally, the real effort is concentrated on Day 2: You will need to cover 12 kilometers while facing a significant 1,270 meters of elevation gain in a single day. This represents a major physical challenge that will test your mental strength during more than 10 hours of continuous activity at altitude. Our strategy to balance this level of effort is based on proper rest and shelter: - Mountain Hut (2,900 m): We spend two nights in a traditional hut in the Cordón del Plata, staying in shared rooms. Given the rugged nature of the environment, services are basic compared to urban lodging, but the shelter and warmth provided are essential for recovery before summit day. Far from traditional tourism, this experience allows you to live true mountaineering and evaluate your abilities against the immensity of the Andes.
Distance: 15 km · Elevation gain: + 220 m
We meet in Mendoza and transfer to the Cordón del Plata Provincial Park. We settle into our mountain hut (2,900 m) and begin exploring the terrain with a gradual ascent to Veguitas Camp (3,240 m), encouraging the body to adapt to altitude. Afterward, we return to the hut for dinner and overnight stay.
Distance: 12 km · Elevation gain: + 1,270 m
The key day of the expedition. After an early breakfast, we begin the ascent toward Cerro del Medio. As we gain altitude, the body will begin to feel the reduced oxygen during nearly 12 hours of steady effort. Upon reaching 4,170 m, the effort is rewarded with vast views across the Andes. We return to the hut in the afternoon, tired but satisfied with the accomplishment.
We enjoy a relaxed breakfast, pack our gear, and share our final mountain lunch together. Then we board our transport and begin the journey back to Mendoza, closing an expedition that marks a turning point in your mountain performance
Excellent company! Very responsible guides!! I felt very well cared for!! I would definitely hire them again! Unique experiences!
Of course! You can join any of our scheduled dates. We keep our groups small to ensure a more personal experience, with a strong focus on safety and group connection.
Our groups are usually made up of solo travelers, friends, and couples. If you’re looking for something more private or can’t find a date that works for you, get in touch and we can design a custom experience so your group can explore the mountains at your own pace.
Yes — food won’t be something you need to worry about. Preparing inclusive meals is an important part of what we do. We offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, even in the middle of the mountains.
We just ask that you let us know in advance when booking, so we can plan everything carefully and make sure your meals are properly organized.
It’s simple. First, send us a message on WhatsApp at +54 9 3512 11-3842 to check availability for your preferred date. Then, you secure your spot with a deposit.
From there, we take care of all the logistics. You just fill out your medical form, pack your backpack, and get ready for the experience.
The estimated arrival time in Mendoza City is around 4:00 pm. We know many participants have flights or buses to catch, so the guides manage the pace to meet this schedule.
That said, the mountains always come first: if there are weather-related situations (rising rivers or storms), times may vary. We recommend booking your return for the evening or the next day so you can enjoy the experience without stress.
We meet on the first day at 8:00 am at the YPF (ACA) station in Mendoza. From there, we begin our logistics and transfer to the Cordón del Plata Provincial Park.
Most travelers sleep in Mendoza City the night before the meeting point. For audited options, browse the official Greater Mendoza accommodation listings at https://mendoza.tur.ar/listings/gran-mendoza/alojamientos/
No—we don’t cancel the trip just because apps show showers. Forecasts tighten 24–48 hours out; guides watch fronts closely and reroute ridges if thunderstorms stack. Expect a Mendoza gear-rental stop before gates if jackets or crampons spike—your job is pacing breath, ours is contingency radios.
Once we begin the hike, there is usually no cellphone signal along the trails, so we recommend switching your phone to airplane mode to save battery.
During our stay at the mountain hut, Wi-Fi is normally available depending on wind and outage windows that day—you can recharge devices in the hut. At night keep phones and spare batteries deep inside your sleeping bag; cold drains batteries extremely fast.
You’ll be undertaking a strenuous effort above 4,000 m—hydration anchors acclimatization. Budget ~3.5 litres per day to offset dry air and cold.
Pure melt streams cross several legs; bilingual guides micromanage where to filter/refill bottles. Carry at least two litres combined across bottles/bladders whenever you leave camp.
Our focus isn’t on performance, but on creating a real mountain experience — a chance to disconnect from the city while still enjoying a high level of service in a remote setting.
- Small groups: We keep things relaxed, so you can enjoy the trail, take a breath, and connect with the group.
- Inclusive meals: We take care of all the food. Full board is included, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available, even in the mountains.
- Mountain hut stay: We sleep in mountain huts. Facilities are simple compared to the city, but it’s the perfect place to rest and share the day.
- Everything taken care of: You just pack your backpack — we handle the logistics and safety.
